Re: Small cache with pics

would be interesting to find out if the person that lived there in 1944 joined the service, died or what happened to this to be left there... that was a decent amount of $$ then..... great going on finding the bottles 2... keep huntin....

Re: Small cache with pics

Re: Small cache with pics

Congrulations on the cache!!!! Your heart must have been pumping to see all of those old coins!!!!

Re: Small cache with pics

Great unexpected finds you have there. I was told a couple of monthsw ago that the 1917 is a key date and to look for double die strike. Take a closer look at it as you may have a winner in there.

Re: Small cache with pics

Your pics and finds are impressive. The fact that it was a cache gives me hope there are others out there.

Great coin and relic finds!!

I hope they are worth a fortune for you.

Re: Small cache with pics

humm might be someones egg / milk money from the WW2 era -- back during WW2 due to rationing the was lots of black marketing ( might account for all those milk cap seals to cover the bottle he put milk in )--farm folks used to sell eggs / milk to folks on the side and make a bit of extra side money --in WW2 things were rationed big time .-- maybe the owner got "called" up an died in the war or just died during that time frame . -- leaving it behind -- $ 11.14 was a good bit of cash in 1944 time frame (at least a weeks pay for most folks ) odd that it would be just left behind like that .

check around if he was black marketing eggs / milk --he might have sold moonshine too. check the land over very well while you can .make the most of this great chance. ---nice score by the way.

Re: Small cache with pics

Your knife looks just like my favorite cutting knife. Ontario Knife Company Old Hickory. I believe that is the brand of your knife you found. Looks alot like mine, but bigger. Awesome finds.
