I need some info on edwards crossing on the yuba river. At the bridge is it reasonably easy to get a power sluice down to the water to a gravel area ? Are there any rules about using one near the bridge. I have a new prospector friend who wants to learn how to use it,
Thanks for any info.

Ive not been to edwards crossing, however most of the yuba river is pretty treacherous. The canyons are kind of steep and full of large craigy boulders, slick bedrock, blackberry sticker plants and bitey things. Ive run across lots of snakes there, and they have a snake that likes to sit in the calm shallows in the summertime. I think you might want to try a regular sluice at the yuba river to keep our eco friend's from making your day. But bring your metal detector, you might just find a nugget with it. I wonder how low the yuba is right now?

That area is under the BLM jurisdiction as the SF Yuba recreation area so go to their office and get the regs in writing as rangers speak with forked tongue so on paper only and put in a ziploc bag and carry for proof. Sure had fun in between Purdone/Edwards--by the pound that is back in the day-John
