Hopefully October will be better than the last few months. Its been rather dry around here as of late. I get a few drops here and there but not much.

28 boxes due for October, maybe more. I might have one bank order me an extra box every two weeks, not sure on that right now.

Ok so this week was not too bad.

I did two boxes on Wednesday and both were a Brinks skunk.

On Friday I got 5 more boxes and some CWRS

Box 1: 8/40% - 2/90%
Box 2: 2/40%
Box 3: Skunk
Box 4: 2/40%
Box 5: Skunk, a second interesting skunk

One of the 40% Halves was a bicentennial in very good condition. Looked like it was just popped out of the case and lightly scratched from sorting and rolling, its my third.

I dont think I have mentioned this before but previous to this last Friday, I recieved a box once that had almost all 1977 and 1980 coins in brinks wrap. All the coins were sort of ashy in color, they were all hard packed into the rolls. I do mean, 1000 coins all 1977 and 1980 and nothing but. This last batch was pretty much the same thing with a few random rolls thrown in, all brinks. The Brinks rolls I can pop the top with a pocket knife and dump the coins out by hand, the 77/80 rolls I cant. Anyways, I am wondering if anyone has bumped into those before or not?

As for the CWR's.

Quarters 1: Skunked
Dimes 1: Sunked
Nickels 1: Skunked

I got no bags of dimes or nickels from my dump bank as they had none for me this week.

October Totals

Found

22 - 40% (3.2538)
2 - 90% Kennedy (0.7234)

Total found 3.9772 oz for $12.00 or $3.02 an oz

Auction/Coin Shop

2 - Roosevelt Dime ( $4.86/0.1446 )
1 - Washington Quarters ( $6.06/0.3616 )
3 - Standing Quarters($18.18/0.3616)

Total purchased 0.8678 oz for $29.10 or $33.63 oz

October totals 4.8450 oz for $41.10 or $8.48 an oz

No coin shop run this week, will do that next week. I was too busy.

Auction tomorrow to go to, doubt I will get anything but I will try if I can make the standard minimum of 20% profit I aim to make when buying from auctions.

9.8599 oz away from end of October goal. 8 boxes of halves left to go this month, its going to be epic if I can hit my goal with so few boxes. Might make a road trip next week and try my luck with that.

Quarters are .18084 oz. Did you get 2 washingtons?

Typo. I had accidentally put 2 Washingtons and 2 standing, changed the totals but forgot to change the oz.

Right on. Happy hunting!

Looks like your boxes are improving a little. Mine are as well.

I guess, if you consider finding in 3 weeks what you usually find in a week better :D

The auction was far from good to me but it was not bad.

Most Morgans went too expensive. I could have snatched up a couple at $27 but I decided it best not to.

Missed out on a bag of 44 Rosies for $91, auctioneer didnt see me raise my hand.. oh well.

What I did get was.

$5 - 1930 Medio Balboa 1/2
$1 - 1959 Mexico Un Peso
$1 - 1967 Canadian Dime in BU condition ( not sure if its the 80% or 50% so I will log it as 50% just because )
$10 - Two Washington Quarters
$25 - 15 War Nickels ( Auctioneer saw my looking down as a bid, at least I got it under melt ). There seems to be two different variations on the 1943 S when it comes to the S mint. A smaller thicker S and a larger thinner S. Could look larger because its thinner but anyways, two variations that I dont see mentioned in the red book.

So....

I also snatched some pennies at the auction just because no one would bid on them and I wanted to speed things up. I have not fully gone through them all but it seems I might have made a few bucks on those.

3 - 1955 cracked skulls which appear to be in about EF to AU condition. Doesnt look like they are all that valuable but I should be able to recoup at least the $1 I bid on them.

Also in the mix for $2 was

1 - 1909 VDB ( not the S mint )
6 - 1909 in various conditions
4 - 1910
3 - 1911 P
1 - 1912 P

Canadian dimes switched from 80% to 50% in 1967 and from 50% to nickel in 1968. Did you magnet check the Canadian dimes?

Haha! Sorry! I'm not trying to bust your balls!

Looks like a pretty fun auction. I've never heard of the cracked skull errors I'll have to check my wheats for that one. Looks like you got some good deals.

Sold all but one of the pennies. Kept one of the 1955 cracked skulls.

Got $6 for the 1909 VDB
Got $4 for the 1915 S
Got 5 cents each for the rest or $2.75

Paid $3 for them so I cant complain about the profits

Picked up some silver with that ( 4 Free rosies with the profit ) and used some spare change I had as well.

Grabbed 6 Washington Quarters and 1 Rosie for $37.50

At least one of my dump banks held me 35 Ikes and 3 rolls of customer rolled halves. Those halves produced thirteen 40% halves which made my day. One of the 40% halves is my 4th Bicentennial and the second of the month, 3rd of the last couple of months.

I did grab a sterling necklace from an auction, 0.0555 worth of silver for $1

I also picked up five $50 bags of pennies to go through.

Tomorrow I dump $1000 in halves and pick up whatever dimes, nickels and pennies they have. After I so through the dimes and nickels I will update the monthly totals.

I love your posts. You are always wheeling and dealing! It looks like you've had mixed luck. Mixed is better than none right? I've been living vicariously through other's posts here (-:

Well, this week has not been the best I have had but it sure as hell has not been the worst.

The dimes, all $505 worth coughed up 3 Rosies so no complaints there.

The $110 in nickels was a skunk, I got some pre 60's, nothing of real value but more for the collection to be auctioned off some year in the future.

Hit up another auction, never been to this place before as its a long drive. Showed up, looked at the jewlery, weighed it, laid out my price point in my note book and went from there. Only thing I got was a Merc Dime, I gave the 'half' wave but the guy took it as a full dollar increase so I ended up paying $3 for a freaking common merc. I was willing to pay melt just because I am so close to my monthly goal. Go up to pay and they charge you the 15% premium that should have been included in the total price of $3. never heard an outfit do that before. Well, at least now I know. On the other hand, I spent a total of $12, 2 hours driving and $3.45 on a common merc to make a contact on gold jewelery at 3% under melt if I choose to go that route. Maybe I will if there is a major dip.

So.. my month is about over and its close to the wire.

Filled up my 4th $25 brick of all copper, one more and I am ready to find a buyer on Craigslist so I can turn that $125 into a tenth of gold. I should be able to fill up two bricks with the $250 in pennies I am currently sitting on and the $25 brick on its way this Friday. I guess its good I have that other brick on the way, I need something to store them in, I am down to one free box lol.

I hope my last two boxes for the week are good. I am going to try to get my mom to run down to a small bank about 30 miles away that I know has CWR's. I am sitting on about a grand of extra cash to buy with but unable to get there to buy due to the hours I work.

Sometime this week my spare change goes into some junk silver from the local coin shop as well as the extra I made on my couple hours of OT I got this weekend, I figure I need to get as close to my goal as possible.

It is my only way to make sure I can be as productive as possible. If I can make $2 on a deal and get free silver for the retirement fund, I will do so. As for my mixed luck, yeah.. these last few months have been pretty bad compared to the first 6 or so. Maybe that is just the way it is around here, silver heavy boxes early in the year with lowering prospects as the year goes on. I guess the next 6-8 months will let me know if there is a trend I should expect to see. If there is, I should do much better this year as my number of boxes a week are higher now ( I average 6.5 boxes a week ) compared to 2 a week like I was doing when I first started. I am currently studying up on small cents and nickels to learn more about the higher priced varieties to look for so I can better gauge my price point on purchasing them to make a buck here and there.

Oh yeah, and the next few months should see me at least attending a number of auctions, some being coin specific but many being just estate auctions and weekend ones as well. I am going to be spending some late nights trying out some other locations to see if I can find some deals since winter is coming and I am going to need something to do since the lake wont be attractive at 30 degrees or below outside.

Well, the end of October is here. I didnt do as good as I had hoped but I didnt do as bad as in the recent past so all is good. And interesting turn of events as of late which should see me somewhat raining in some silver but more on that in my November thread

I purchased more silver at spot because I need to keep buying to make sure I stay on track since the CRH isnt paying out like it was. Hit the coin shop and spent my spare change on some common barber dimes just to get a roll made up.

Todays two boxes produced

Box 1: 1/40% and 1/90%
Box 2: Skunked

At least I am not skunked for the week, I have 5 boxes due on Friday but that doesnt count into this month so.. we will save that for my November Thread.
