It is worked on the top. The face doesn't look to be worked at all. Under high magnification it does look to be ground on in the mouth area...mother nature is a trickster though

I believe everyone is right about this piece. Characteristics of material is natural of course. Next it was just a flake. And the maker definitely had an imagination and great skill to turn a nice flake into an effigy. Great find!!!
