Found this along an old railroad, built by El Paso & Southwestern c.1900 and later owned by Southern Pacific from 1924 to the 1990s. Does anyone know how old this thing might be? I have seen photos of a few others just like it or very similar online, but have found nothing concerning its age (Other than one guy referring to his as "antique"). Any help would be great. Thank you

Looks like a spike hammer. The same design was used for a long time but I would say that one is early 1900's.

Would you say it is pre 1924 or post 1924? If pre 1924 its El Paso & Southwestern.

Gandy Dancer's hammer, or spike hammer as Tony said, they used them for pretty much everything back then. it'll be pretty hard if not impossible to date it accurately but it's really cool.
