Hope this will help someone. from the Washington Post Dec.6 1907 newspaper.
The farm of Charles Hobson, near Elko is being rapidly plowed up to find a can of gold.
Mr. Hobson, who is a prosperous farmer had in his possession several hundred dollars in gold,
and, having no place in his residence in which to hide it, placed the coins in a tin can and buried the can in a field near his dwelling. Three days ago he went to get the hidden treasure , but there was no can in the place where he thinks he buried it.
Whether it has been stolen or whether he has forgotten the exact location of the gold is now the question, and not taking any chances he is now plowing up the entire field.
I looked for a follow up article and didn't find anymore info on this, maybe its still there? Good Luck
