My wife just got me the Equinox 800 for Valentine’s Day. Total noob on how to really detect. Is there any kind of cheat sheet that shows what numbers are for what kind of material? I mainly gold prospect seeing as I’m in Alaska, but I’d like to look for old mining relics and whatnot as well. And of course old coins. I can easily switch it to “gold” mode, but that doesn’t mean I have any idea on what I’m hearing/seeing lol.

Here's a link to Bart's blog. Scroll down a little ways for some VDI numbers. Remember though, it's only a guide. One of my gold nuggets rang in as 9, just FYI. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the family

Awesome Valentines gift! :notworthy:

One thing I did, is use different things I hoped to find and either buried them or airtested them. Found out a man's gold rng rang up anywhere between 9 and 12 depending on swing speed and how the ring was sitting. Same if you want to find iron or bronze artifacts, borrow a couple things and test in.over your soil. Kind of like practice like you play. Great V-day gift!

Welcome you got a good machine will take some learning and lots of practice

Welcome also. Tommy
