Detector(s) used
Minelab Etrac
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I went to the little town of Dover, Minnesota and did some detecting.
I ended up at the sidewalk tear out that had allready been replaced and
still had some luck.
I found the cats eye marble on top of the ground.
Than the diamond pin 2 inches down. Next the 1903 Barber Dime and
the lead seal that has no. 28 on one side and W.& W, RY on the other.
Also took a few pictures.
Enjoy
Roger

Thanks willy. No mint mark.

Looks more like damage than an error, nice coin none the less.

I looked it over really good and didn't see any damage and also the " R "
looks like the silver twist through the center and curls up past the top or the " R ".
I don't know how they go through the mint. Are the coins hot during minting and maybe stuck to the die
than drooped back down melting back together?

The coins are struck cold. The mark on the R may be a die crack or scratch, hard to tell from the photo. The damage on the date, you can see a gouge in the center of the 3 it continues down and displaced the metal in the lower portion of the three. There is really no way this could have happened in the minting process.
