Errors ?

We found this 1953 what looks to be an S Lincoln. You can obviously see that the rim is totally gone. The " IN GOD WE TRUST " and L in Liberty is also missing. But the odd thing is the finish on the obverse is very heavy and shiny which leads me to believe its not do to wear. Also a little misshaped. The reverse is a very dull finish and perfectly normal. I included a pic of a normal 53 D for reference. Any thoughts on if this is an error?

It just looks like it is worn to me. I'm no penny expert though.

I'm guessing a grease filled die.

Might want to take it to a dealer to be sure though.
