I have a NICE collection of WAR NICKELS, INDIAN HEADS, V NICKELS, MERCURY DIMES, INDIAN HEAD PENNIES, 1893 QUARTER, and 1904 HALF DOLLAR. I need help estimating the value on this beautiful collection. All of them look perfect and uncirculated or almost uncirculated except a couple of the war nickels.

Looks like these coins were cleaned. While I don't know the value of your collection, I do know that cleaning is a big no-no in the numismatic community.

From the looks of it, they look either polished or plated. To be honest I'm not too sure on the numismatic value because of that. For bullion value, just find a melt value calculator and plug in the numbers.

What did you do to those coins!?!?!

Since the coins were polished they are significantly less. It's a shame but some of the Buffalos still have some nice detail.
The silver is only worth melt and the rest is up to you or a buyer since the coins were cleaned.

-shudder-

Yeah, something nasty was done to those coins...

Your silver is only going to be worth melt unless its a key date (and I can't see any key dates there)

Your pennies and (non-war) nickels are going to be a very tough sell because they have little intrinsic value. A lot of collectors and dealers won't touch those nickels and IHs with a ten foot pole because of the horrendous polishing job on them.

Your coins may have a lot of detail but their polished so that destroys their numismatic value, even though you might have say, XF details, the polishing might drop the value down to a G-4 coin.

Really, your best bet may be to avoid selling these to a dealer or collector but instead sell it to a non-collector who thinks the polished look "looks cool". The silver coins are fine because silver is silver, but the rest of them...

yeah, those coins were overly polished or cleaned improperly, that ruins all numismatic value.

Where did you get them from? If you throw them on eBay I'd say you'd get 60 bucks, assuming the top row is all war nicks, and the one at the bottom all mercs

I'll buy the 90% off you for 16x face!

Ouch, that's more brightwork than the front end of a 59 Caddy. It sucks that someone "cleaned them up".

Thanks guys! I'll just hold em for a while cause I don't know what else to do with em.

Can he perhaps place these in the ground unprotected for his children or grandchildren to check out every 30-40 years?
Silver does so well though.
I'd put em a foot under the downspout. And sprinkle a few zincolns every 10 years. LOL
