...or when your find is not as old as you imagined.

Ran into George and Gary at Riverside and we compared our finds. I was proud of my "old" looking lead seal and mentioned it had an anchor on it. After some research it turns out to be a seal from a champagne bottle, the brand being Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, probably dating from 1970. See photo of my find and what it would have looked like new.

Anyway, there were some older finds and the notable ones are: the interesting type-set piece that appears to be a script letter, two 1942 nickels - a silver 'P' mint and a non-silver one from Philadelphia mint, wheaties from 1917, 1935, 1936 and 1946, and some brass - a .30 caliber casing made at the Twin Cities Ordnance Factory and a Winchester Repeating Arms .38 S&W.

Enjoy the pics and Happy Huntin'.

Bag-sealed? Now that's a new one. :icon_scratch::laughing7: Yup many times, only redemption is when it turns out to be older than what you thought-then it's sweet. I can see why, and digging the seal it would fool many.

Yep...that would have got me pumped up!

Hey, 1970 was a very good year...I was 8, in the second grade, had a pretty little girl friend named Michelle, lol. Ahhh...those were the days!

Title works on getting people to check it out :icon_thumright:. Only one type set piece? I found over 330 in one hole last year, still probably missed some too. What kind of spot is it where you find just one? Maybe someone else got the rest and just missed that one. Nice finds and too bad on your "seal".
