I bought some halves a few weeks ago at a bank not far from me and the teller asked me if I wanted her to call me if she got anymore brought in because she does not want them. So I give her my number and she calls yesterday and says she has $8.50 in halves do I want em?

I proceeded to ask her where they order their coins from and she said from the fed reserve, and SHE ASKED ME if I wanted her to order me a box. Can u believe that? I then asked her if I needed an account and she replied nope, just bring cash to pay for them next week when they come in!!

So that goes to show there are still nice tellers out there

I find that when I do things that make a teller's life easier, they do little things that help me out too.

Things I do to win over a teller (that don't cost me anything extra)

= Take everything they set aside for me with a smile, even if I really don't want it. I can always dump it elsewhere.
= I clean out their mutilated pile so they don't have to maintain/audit it. Even the $100's. I have one specific bank where I take them to. They aren't esctatic about it, but I bring all the lower denominations in full straps so they only have to verify them once.
= I take anything in their drawer that is gathering dust.
= If they have customers that collect things like IKEs, I bring them IKE's or whatever their customers collect. This helps them build a relationship with other customers besides me.
= If there are other customers in line, I let them go first. I make sure I'm never the reason for holding up other customers.

That is how I got started with a branch I get 3 boxes a week from. When searching for loose and rolls one day they asked if I wanted them to order a box. I told them I didn't have an account. They said no problem. I ended up getting an account and now they are a regular supplier of halves and bag-o-ikes............and still no fee's.

I have a bank that orders 8 boxes per week for me for about 5 months and I don't have an account there. And they even ask if I want more than 8 per week...

I have a Wells Fargo that has started charging me $4 per box. I have a WAMU that does not charge me and I do not have an account with them. I wanted to refuse the Wells charges, but trying to make sure WAMU keeps up before dumping Wells as a supply. I would dump at WELLS but they don't have a coin counter. They are both ordering for me twice a week.

I buy 2 boxes a week at wells fargo, if they start charging, I will remove all accounts I have with them, including a savings account and a CD

Been thinking of trying Ike's lately. Do I just ask my bank to order a bag of Ike's? And are they $500/$1000 bags? The coin counters I use dont take Ike's so my dump banks wont be loving it :D

about the time i started this 4 months ago i went around to feel out where i should order from. for the most part bank of America was ver bad. they didnt want anything to do with me if i didnt have an account. then on a wim i went into a branch near my house. the teller was very nice from the get go. Low and behold they started ordering one box a week for me and holding all halves that came in. as time went on i became more and more feiendly with them and they became even friendlier with me. then randomly the head teller said she was going to start ordering 2 boxes a week for me. i told her that was nice but i wasnt sure i would have that much every week to get them. she told me dont worry they could sit. I bought them all a box of joe and dounuts last month and i think another batch is in order. they are super nice to me and always act happy to see me. there are def. still great tellers around. and i aready decided because they are always soo cool when i do get some extra cash im going to open account there.

I have a bank that orders me 1 box a week, & I do not have an account there. Also have banks that sell me their bags & loose halves from the trays, again with no accounts. Ron

I am in the majority on this issue as well. I have three banks that order boxes for me without an account. It isn't on a consistant basis.....about twice a month. Testing the waters so to speak & the tellers are just great folks at each of them.

Believe it or not, I don't have an account at any of the banks that order me boxes or bags. All of the banks I have accounts at are dumps for me. In my area it is much easier to get coin than it is to get rid of it. Chase bank is the only bank in my area that requires an account to get coin. Just keep asking around. There are nice tellers out there.

It took me a while but I finally found a bank that would order Ikes. They came in $1000 bags. I got a total of 3. I found one 40%, a 1973 and one 1922 Peace dollar.
