Ever heard of a farmer picking up a flat from an arrowhead?

I’m not sure it’s possible but at the same time lots of farms lotsa field conditions lots of points, it would be a silver lining to a costly fix

no but I know several caused by deer antlers.

I have experienced and seen tractor and pickup tires being punctured by shed horns, but I haven't heard of an arrowhead putting a hole in a tire. It is possible for a point to puncture a lesser ply tire. Just last fall I had a four inch long pointed rock poke a hole in my pickup tire, so I guess it is possible if the point has a backing (hard surface) to be able to poke itself into the tire. The tire that was punctured was a used tire that I just had replaced, so that may have been a factor.

In Harrison Co. IN there is so much flint debitage in some fields that they cause flats. Not points, but razor sharp flakes and chunks leftover from flintknapping.

In SE IA, one county had a quarry where they got limestone for the roads. The limestone had so much flint in it that it was causing flats out on the county roads. It got so bad they had to abandon the quarry.

This pic is a collection of items taken out of flat tires over many years. Sorry, no arrowheads. Gary

My brother in law has a nice little Palmer point he said he found embedded in a farm tractor tire, it is probably the nicest of the dozen or so points he has. It didn't cause a flat from what I am told, just got stock there.

Around here it’s the black locust trees in the pastures that get me more often than not, followed by screws and nails from the job site. It’s interesting about the quarry it makes me think it’s more possible to puncture a tire with a point.
finding the Palmer without getting the flat would be ideal... now if there was a way to work that into a recovery technique.

Certainly heard of farmers finding points sticking out of the mud stuck on their tires

Not an arrowhead but back in my youth when I didn't have two nickels to rub together I got a flat running over a chicken bone! Tell me my tires weren't bald! :laughing7:

Thanks to ToddsPoint for his pic. I once got a call from one of my kids who got a flat on my pickup from a rail road spike. I never got a good explanation for HOW it got in the tire. But I see in Todds pic. a RR spike so now I feel better after 15 yrs. Thanks Todd and good luck yall..
