Well now you will know. Here is a list that shows every coin terminal (armored car service) that is responsible for moving coin around in your area. After 12 boxes of skunk halves I got to thinking,"where is it coming from?" Others in my area myself included, must have drained our area dry of all the silver. This list of coin terminals is responsible for 90% of the coin that gets "shuffled" around by the Fed Res.banks throughout the country.Got any questions for them? Call them up and ask them! I would "cut and paste" but I don't know how so here is the link in HTML format.

Re: Ever wonder where your coin comes from locally?

Great piece of information. Not only do we need to know dump banks we now need to know who services the dump banks so we don't contaminate the boxes. I can see it now, pallets full of halves at Brinks with no place to go.

Nice Diggum,

Great resource, Ive looked for info similar before, but never found that list.

Got a question though, Im in Western PA, and I know Loomis Fargo delivers
right down the street from me, but I cant seem to figure out where they come
from on that list. No Loomis Fargo anywhere near me , unless they are driving 3 states
to get here . I could have missed it though, gonna check a few more times LOL.

Thanks for the info !!

Re: Ever wonder where your coin comes from locally?

Here is a link to the PA sites for LF.

http://www.loomisfargo.com/pennsylvania.asp

My guess how it works is these sites process the coins from their customers and returns them to their customers. The only way the get additional coins is when one of the PA LF orders in from one of the LF locations on the list Diggum provided. I think that is why you want to pick on a certain vendor. If you dump your coins at a LF serviced branch and pickup from a Brinks you should do okay.

Thanks for the spreadsheet. To make it more readable I just deleted all the rows that are not in my area. Now I know who I am dealing with. 5 big guys in Los Angeles (30 miles away) and a smaller company in Pico Rivera (10 miles) :)

Re: Ever wonder where your coin comes from locally?

Cyberdan, thank you, your highlighted quote did the trick. Can you
tell it was early and I was not quite fully awake yet ? LOL.

Also, I order from Loomis Fargo, and dump to Brinks :) So all you
out there dumping to Loomis Fargo... STOP IT :) Just kiddin, good luck.

Someone should start a new coin service... called "Dump-it Here Coin Service"... specially
tailored to return searched coin to. Think of all the business you'd get.
And it would help all CRH to rid the rejects from the FAST circulation we are
putting them through. Boxes would get fun again :)

Good luck all.

Re: Ever wonder where your coin comes from locally?

How the heck do you know which one is servicing you exactly? I live in southern WI and I see Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago that are fairly close to my hunting grounds.

What name is on the wrappers? Who services your bank? Once you know this go to the company web page and look up locations.

I bumped this back up because there are a lot of newer members here who may be interested.
PS-I know how to cut and paste now ( ;D ) but the text is confusing (the format is different) when I do so i'll just leave the link as it is for you to go to and check out for yourself.

Ive been wanting to try my hand at this and this list seems great to me...especially since there is a distributor on that list near to me. Now what does it mean. I didn't quite understand. I want to pick a bank that doesn't get their coin from that distributor but I want to return to a bank that uses that distributor? Or is it the opposite?

You just want to make sure you don't pick-up from and dump to the same distributor. Also remember, this list of "coin terminals" only applies to Fed.Res.Banks. and only 90% of them at that, so the list is not 100%,but it's close.

But the bottom line here is that these banks just move the stuff around rather than going back to the reserve...(ie the way I understand it going back to the reserve has a better shot at being the silver?). Otherwise, this is a useless piece of information, correct?

Pardon me but I don't quite understand ebonics but I think you are talking about marking your coins and they showed up in California? What type of mark do you use?

Now all we need is a spreadsheet that shows where all the little old ladies are and what banks they use.

I get what your saying. I guess the question is, how often do the "coin terminals" (Brinks etc.) get/replenish coin from the Fed.Res.,halves in particular? Maybe this is why I can't find anymore silver down here. It's all just going in circles. They (Brinks etc.) do re-roll all the coin themselves don't they? I found 1 40%'er in 24 boxes in the last several months, ordering from several different banks that use 2 different couriers.Hmm? Points to ponder. :-\

I am not sure how often they get deliveries from the FED but I do know that they do since every now and then we get pure date boxes (2001-D, 1996-D). They only way this can happen is a fresh mint bag being delivered to the terminal. I need to re read the sheet. I didn't notice if the terminals only deal in bags.
