Actually I have been doing this many years before I got into CRH. When given change I pull out any "keepers" wheat, old nickels, AG, or anything interesting.

So I wanted to see if anyone has got any interesting coins lately or when the last time you pulled a nice find. Here is my story:

Last Friday I stopped in local gas station to pick up few things and got my change and I keep it in my hand until I get to my car and then I quickly investigate and pick through before it goes into my junk change canister. To my surprise I got a 1943 S war nick. SCORE! Later in day after lunch I was handed a $5 star note. :)

Last AG score before this war nick was 2 years ago 1960 Washington almost BU condition and I Remember the sweet sound the moment it hit my hand with other change.

Let's here some stories!!!!

Happy hunting

At least a dozen wheatbacks in the last two years, and 2 silver Washingtons and a silver Canadian quarter in the the last two years also.

Yesterday I got a 1955 nickel. Dont have that one yet so at least I filled a hole. I think the clerks are coin rollers also.

I've been looking since the 1970's and still have not received my first silver coin in my own pocket change. Last year I got 2 wheaties and those were the firsts ones of those I had seen in 6 or 7 years.

Last year on my son's birthday I had to run to the gas station to get ice, when I got my change, Silver Dime, I went back in and asked if I could get 2 Dollars in Dimes from him and he gladly changed me out but there was no more Silver Dimes, oh well, I still look in my change everyday but haven't found any Silver. HH, Maverick.

I havent found any ag yet- I did get a 1940 nick a week ago
The good thing though is ive got my two daughters checking now- even though im sure the ag will flow slower and be even more scarce in up coming years at least they know what to look and hear for-
They are always checking vending machines and coinstars for change left and usually always come away with something even if its only a couple cents

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

Always good to have extra eyes and ears helping out.

About 5 years back I had a PT overnight job at gas station and on a Fri/Sat I would average 2 silver finds per weekend. Mostly dimes but occasional quarter would be found. Little old Lady during day also sniped coins for her husband and I remember her so excited to see me and tell me about the two full rolls of Bens she got for gas a few hours before I got to work.

100_6043.webp100_6041.webpWell, ya know. I went into the bank on Jan 14, 2014 with $20 with the intention of getting pennies or nickels if there weren't any half dollars. I asked the teller if they had halves and she replied $50 worth. I said "I'll take two rolls" with the intent of checking in the van for silver and if there was any silver i'd ask my mom to get the rest and i'd pay her back at the house for the $30. As I walked to the car and knew deep down that this was my day and i'd need that $30. Well I got out to the car and dumped that first roll into my hand and BOOM!! A handful of bluish-green halves fall into my hands, SILVER!! I scream and dump the second into my hands, ANOTHER SCREAM! Then i told my mom i needed $30 to go get the rest which she willingly gave since it was an emergency for silver! We got the rest, dumped 'em into my hands and BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Silver in all! I ended that CRHing day with 31 90%ers and 36 40%ers. All told it was a nice profit.

Ahhhh. Lol. Whoops. ;)

About 10-15 wheats, 1 silver dime, a couple of war nickels.

got a 1910 wheat recently, my oldest "change" find

my luck with silver in change is terrible though. got a quarter from the 40s when I was a kid, and found a silver rosie about 4 years ago. I didn't always look as a kid but certainly in the last 4 years no more silver in change. it's insane to think of the amount of change I've gone through just buying stuff in that amount of time, but still nothing.

I found a silver dime on my dad's tool box a yeAr ago which was in pocket change

Craziest find for me was at a Patriots-Dolphins game, got a beer, the change was something .25, and there was a jar of quarters for tips. guy gives me a dirty look .. not cuz I am a Pats fan, he gave me a 64 wash! Sorry dude, I am not giving it back to you, and you aint getting a dollar.

P.S. Patriots won.

Thanks - yes it is - and when I pulled the old ragged carpet, before I installed the new one - underneath I found - clad :dontknow:

I have had a few cool finds in pocket change recently. A couple months ago, I got a few bucks & change from another store i worked at for a travel expense voucher. Had a shiny '64 Washington mixed in. In my wife's drawer in our room a couple years ago (which she empties her pockets into at the end of the day), I found a '63 proof Washington! Those are the only silver quarters I have found, aside from 1 in a lot of $900 cwr's in the last 15 years.

I got a twenties wheat a few months back.

My recent finds are in my siggy. The Merc I got from a candy shop in Boulder City, not far from Vegas. Haven't topped it since. I encounter dollar coins so infrequently that I keep track of those too. You know what happens sometimes? When I get some change at a fast food place or something, I'll poke thru it while waiting for the food and the cashier (usually a guy) will have a slight attitude and ask "Is it right?", like I'm counting to make sure he gave the correct amount. Now my standard answer is "Don't worry, I'm not checking for accuracy, I collect coins." It never occurs to them and they get a little sheepish after that. :laughing7:
