Excal 8" coil or 10" coil? What would be better for rock areas with sand?

I was wondering what coil would everyone suggest if I purchase the Minelab excal? I was thinking of sticking with the 8" coil because over here in Hawaii I have to deal with alot of rocks and stuff and was thinking that the 10" coil would be too big? Any suggestions about this plus having a bigger coil wouldn't it be harder to pinpoint underwater? I do lots of diving so it might be harder especially since there are alot of targets sitting next to each other. I went out today with my PI and was digging holes to China finding alot of junk! Hope to hear from all of your excal guys!

i have the 10" coil plus the 15"wot for the excalibur, myself i go with the 10" one you might want to hunt other places and two resale, 10" coil i would thing would sale faster , you can always buy the 8" and laster have the 10" installed by minelab, or get the 10" if you find it to big have the 8" installed. pointing pointing to me just as ez with 8" or 10". where talking 2" inches here not like going to the 15" wot.

I would suggest the 10 inch normally for the deeper depth and area to be covered. However for diving I liked the smaller coil better for the faster pinpointing underwater and more maneuverability. You can't really call it pinpointing as you just pull the coil back toward you and slowly slide it forward and when you hear the sound the target is just off the tip of the coil. The smaller coil was easier to use underwater too.

With the hot rocks and extra minerals in the lava sand the smaller coil will work better also. I always thought Minelab would come out with a waterproof coil connector so the coils could be changed on the Excal. When you buy the WOT coil system they send you the connectors for converting the Excal to be able to change coils.
