What settings does everyone use on the beach with there ExcalII(wet sand and dry sand) My disc is at 7 and sens is at around a 9(think this isn't correct). Does anyone hunt entirely in Pinpoint mode? I have been finding a lot of coins, lead, and pulltabs. Would I miss platinum in these settings? Just trying to learn the machine.

Do a search: Excal Settings

:-)

You are going to have to earn your way by doing some basic research like we had too. For starters your disc is way to high, we use as low as we can since it won't find hairpins in disc mode. Some guys search in Pinpoint.

CJC has some fine books on the use of the Excal and Sov at the beaches.

I concur!

Since there not much on hunting PP/AM mode and thats just about all I do, here is a resent email I sent out on settings

I have no set settings, I start at vol...3/4 threshold as low as possible but still can hear the disruption of the threshold if I get a deepee, sensitivity set at 12 o'clock...then once I hit the beach and get a faint signal in AM, I do the fine tuning. Most of the time I end up adjusting the vol..up more, and the sens..up a bit more also. Backing of the target and walk up to it checking different sweep speeds, seeing which works best........................... If I use the amp, which I do most of the time {it is a doc's treasure amp, and all it does is amp up the signals that you can hear and the signals that are so faint you can't} I do the same, find the faint target and do the routine. I use this methold from the very edge of the wet sand out to about knee deep, after that it does not works as well.
