Just started using my excal in the water, recently sent it in for a tune up. I went out today and it wont pick up any signals? It makes noise, but doesnt pick up anything. There is condensation in the clear tube, does anyone know if this might be the problem? when in the water how do you have your cord with the clear tube? i have it on a waist pack.
Any help is appreciated

turn it of send it back asap

Does it pick up a quarter or gold ring you place in the sand as a test?

It could be just a battery problem and not the unit. Does it act the same with a different rechargable battery, or the AA battery pod.? Any kind of moisture in the battery compartment is a problem.

Do you use any silicone gel on the rubber gasket on the screw down battery connector?

Treasure_Hunter nailed down all the suggestions I was thinking of.

I don't understand this question.
when in the water how do you have your cord with the clear tube?

the battery pack didnt get wet, it is the clear tube with metal in it???? not sure about this thing yet!! I think it is silicone has water in it?? It does not pick up anything but makes noise???? Not even sure I need that piece or what it is for?

The only clear tube I can think of your talking about has to be the battery pack, it has the battery inside, with a white silicone hard gel pack at bottom, long side, opposite end of connector.

If you have a AA batterypack try it and see what happens. It you get moisture in compartment, it will not function properly.

Look at this link, if your talking about the clear tube on the bottom, that is your battery, electronics on top.

it's not the battery, i think its the divers tube? i will try to take a picture tonite and post

Would it be that you have a waterproof coil connector tube that is leaking. This is an add-on so you are able to switch coils on a Excalibur.

yes it is a connector, my dad dried it out and siliconed it, is working good for now. YEAH!!!

Oh, a connector. You didn't just buy it new. It's had a connector added for changing coils. These have to be kept dry and the plug where it fastens to the battery should have silicone grease on the threads for a sealant.

Sandman, The excal calls for a gel silicone for the rubber rings in the battery housing. What do you use for that? Is it something you can pick up anywhere? I don't want to use the wrong stuff and have the rings dry out.

Lost at Sea, the gel silicone is a silicone grease that is available at dive shops for lubricating O rings. It is much cheaper to get some at a pool supply shop. Don't ever use the silicone bathroom caulk.

The gel is sent with the purchase of a Tesoro water detector. I believe all gaskets for water detectors should get a coating of the gel to lube the seal and keep the O ring alive. On the Excal I use it to lube the threads of the connector plug too to help keep out water.
