Excal questions

Hi Guys,

Went to use my excal after a long hiatus, and the battery is reading 0.22 on the meter, and it doesnt seem to want to charge. Is there a way to tell if the problem is my charger or the battery? what is the normal reading for a fully charged excal battery, I seem to recall it was 14.00 or so?

do a voltage check on the adapter/charger... It should be stated on the adapter what you should be looking for.

I tried checking the charger, but I got nothing coming out of it. It may be the way that minelab sets that thing up, because you just have the single plug that splits in the adapter.

Plug it in and attach the adapter. With your meter set for DC VOLTAGE put the probes on the two SLOTTED pins, ignore the threaded screw. you should read either "positive" 14ish volts, or "negative" 14ish volts. If you get this here, it isn't your charger transformer, or your adapter.... Joe

After following some instructions from the Minelab Rep (I thought they would take longer to get back to me) I've found that the charger seems to be defective. Current is not even getting to the adapter.
