Excalibur 1000 New Gray Ghost Headphones finding deeper targets

I sent my Excal to minelab and Robert installed a plug on the unit and head phone at 20 dollars each, also on the yellow headset in case i need to use it again.

I was amazed at the beach a week ago when i first turned on the detector, I was hearing faint sounds that the yellow minelab headphones never made, The grayghost headphones felt great wearing them for hours.

I tried something different and decided detecting in all metal and started hearing faint sounds and i would switch out of pinpoint and try detecting the object and could not locate it, So i switched back into pinpoint and located it and i was finding coins i would have otherwise missed.

With the new grayghost headphones, I located quarters from 1950 that i never found working the cocoa beach area i have detected many times before.

Everytime i go detecting with my Excalibur and grayghost headphones i fill like i have the advantage on other detectorist using different model detectors.

I am glad you like the Gray ghost\ Excal combo, now leave a couple of keeper for us simple hunters

I like my Grey Ghost phones for land detectors but I am in the water with the Excal and can never keep my head dry cause I sometimes get out to far and I dive with them too. The stock phones on the Excal are made for the water.

The gray ghost underwater headphones is what i had minelab install on my excal, And i have been in the water and waves have covered me and the headphones work great.

The sounds are more crisp and i like the way the headphones fill, Also a person at minelab stated alot of buyers have had there units modified so that they could be retrofitted with the much better and more comforble gray ghost underwater headphones.

Having a excalibur retrofitted with the gray ghost type headpgones is the direction minelab should take, Talking with a few people at minelab has confirmed this but the company likes those silly looking headphones that come stock with the unit,

The faint sounds are able to be heard now and im happy i made the decesion to upgrade my detector.

Ronald99......I'm using the same setup U/W Gray Ghost headphones with Excalibur 1000,but paid a lot more
to have Minelab mod my unit....I do notice a sharper tone,however they have not been as advantageous to me as they have to you .....I kept my original headphones intact so if I sell my Excal all I have to do is put the plug in and it would be in original condition ....my main reason for modifying was so that I could detach my headphones...glad you are having such good luck with your new setup..Rdi

Thank you for the info on the Excal Gray Ghost combo. I sent my Excal to minelab last week and I received it this morning, Robert installed a plug on the unit and head phone at 20 dollars each, also on the yellow headset in case I need to use it again. I am very happy with Minelab's service and Robert was very quick and kept in contact through out the process!!! Here are some pics of the finished product.

Just wanted to point out that Robert deserves a big Thank You! for installing underwater connectors for $20 each. I'm a repairman, and I can't buy the connectors for that price, let alone install them.
