Good day all, I’m new to this site and only been metal detecting for a couple years. Found some cool things in NW Ontario, Canada I’d like to share. The lock, butt plate and side plate (serpent) were found in a 15’ radius

My research shows it was made by either Francis Smart or John Smart between 1715-1727.

Looks like an old hunting lodge site:
Gun parts, knife and spring arms from animal traps. Neat history in those finds. Thanks for posting.👍🏼

Banner find in my book.... super cool and intact... not everyday one sees a find like that one.
What a great find and what a great start to metal detecting... and great start to your collection of finds.
Now... all there is left to do... is to start exactly where you found that and look for any other tidbits to add to it if possible.
And then....... detect the heck out of the rest of the area.
