I have a new set of treasure wise headphones as my back up set. The volume maxed out on either mono or stereo don't produce enough sound for me. Is there a way to possible mod them to increase the volume? I had thought maybe a inline volume control might work but not sure if it will only increase it to what the max is now. Any ideas?
Thanks, Mike in NJ

Thank you for the link. I appreciate it.

If you want good volume at a cheap price with a lifetime warranty, you could get the Koss KTX-PRO1 headphones for about $20. They are lightweight on the ear types with in-line volume control. They have a long thin cord but are surprisingly durable. HH, George (MN)

My advice is go for the best. Gray Ghost headphones. A little bit expensive, but the sound quality is so good that once you try a pair, you'll never be satisfied with the cheap ones again!

Thanks for the replies. One of my hunting partners is giving me a pair of Timberwolf Howlers.

A few years ago I bought a blue bird by a company called Depth Master. It was made for Whites detectors. I still use it on all{2] Whites machines. I'd be lost with out it. It takes 1 aa and it defenetly amp the sound. I don't know if they are still around though. Itis small and ligth And plugs into detector. you plug your headset into device. I have never found any headset alone to equal its sound. It cost [than about $75.00.

I know alot of people here buy detector specific headphones, etc. I took the route of buying a set of Sony Studio Monitor Series Headphones (MDR-V150) $20.00, and a seperate volume control from Radio Shack that I adpated to my unit so it would be on the frame and coming out the back. These things are meant for music and trust me, they sound good. Mike, I'm not familiar with the Treasure Wise headphones, but it sounds to me that without a signal amp, they will not be loud enough. There are many plans online for building your own amp that you could look up (I know you're handy with electronics and the soldering gun) and on the expensive side, there are people who build these units and sell them on Ebay. They usually build them into a tin altoids container or similar holding device for the electronics. Is the ground in NJ still frozen? Cheers.
