Hey,

I'm a huge music fan in general, but my favorite genres/subgenres usually orbit around the more extreme poles of the music spectrum. I started going to extreme music shows and play extreme music at the age of 15, it has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years now. If anyone here has any interest in various types of extreme metal/punk (death, black, doom, sludge, grind, powerviolence, crust, hardcore, etc.) and would like to share artists that you like, this is the place.

I will also gladly give suggestions to anyone looking for something, going from very specific subgenres to vague elements that you like about certain bands or artists.

I understand this is a very niche thing and might not reach a big audience since these types of music sound like noise to most people. I would appreciate it if we could avoid derogatory comments about the music and keep the focus on positive exchange.

My suggestions for today:

Saguisugabogg - Hideous Aftermath
My favourite metal record of 2025. Great evolution for this Ohio death metal band, adding technicality, elements of brutal death and more varied types of riffs to their original caveman formula. There's even a Godflesh style track in the middle of the album that is a great addition. Loads of crazy cool featurings on several of the tracks, from Peelingflesh to Cattle decapitation.
Listen to it on bandcamp:

Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God
My favourite metal record of 2024. Ulcerate streamlined and updated their tech-forward avant-garde death metal into a completely unique beast. The guitar player and drummer are top tier. There's elements of post-punk in the overall atmosphere. I have yet to hear anything that sounds quite like them.

Hope I can reach at least a couple of other angry music fans here
Enjoy!

Long time metal fan here. I'm really into lately Lorna shore, slaughter to prevail as for this newer generation. My favorite is probably Lamb of God
Not a huge deathcore fan but I have to give it to Lorna Shore, not only did they really push the style forward musicaly, but their vocalist Will Ramos is out of this world. Have you seen the youtube video where they stuff a camera down his throat and show what it looks like when he's screaming? Pretty crazy.

As far as deathcore goes I'm old school, The Healing Process by Despised Icon, Clients by The red Chord and Empires by Animosity are what I usually listen to if I have a deathcore itch!

Big time. Got to see some live shows in Deep Ellum at Galaxy Club & Trees. The MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour, Pantera, Lamb of God...love it.

These guys put on a great live show.

Thanks anyway but I'll stick with klemmer and the train....

The do, very talented bunch. Not exactly a band I listen to but I have great respect for them, their sound in unique and they can play. Shame the singer and drummer can't get along anymore.

Been thinking about it, if you are a Lamb of God fan, might I suggest you listen to A life Once Lost. I remember seeing them live in the mid 2000s when they released their album Hunter and thought the definitely shared some musical DNA with LOG. Very groovy.
