Today this morning I went to hunt a location for around 4 hours that I've hit a dussin times before just cause I've found some of my oldest coins there. I've hit this place with my ACE 250 but today I hunted it with my new AT Max hoping for some deeper finds. The place I was hunting is a very unknown abandoned field. There lives a dussin people there in the summer. Last year I found a big copper coin called '1 Öre' from 1748. And I've not found any really good coins this year so I was hoping for some good finds. I started detecting with a swarm of mosquitoes around me and I was almost going insane because of them biting on me. I dug a decent signal and found an 1800's bronze comb:

Then I left my equipment behind and ran to get some spray to keep the mosquitoes away from me. Then I got back and got faint 50's reading under a small tree. I dug down and got a very nice gold plated 1800's bronze hunters button:

Then I moved on and got an extremely faint and jumpy signal that seemed to be very deep. I dug down about 25 centimeters and got my first copper of the year! It is a ¼ Skilling coin from 1825 minted by the Swedish king 'Karl XIV Johan':

I got really happy after that find and then I detected for a bit and found a tiny early 1800's pewter button. Then I got a fantastic deep signal under a tree root showing 80 & 81 all the time and I was 99% sure it was going to be a nice find. So I dug down and got it out and first I thought it was a huge copper coin but then I flipped it and saw holes in it. I don't have a clue of what it is so if anyone knows please let me know (measurement is in CM):

After that find I walked a bit further and got a high 40's signal. So I dug down and got a beautiful late 1700's bronze button with a star design on the obverse:

I kept on walking and got a quite bad but deep signal and decided to dig it. I dug down and couldn't find it so after digging deeper I finally had the signal in the dirt besides me. I looked at it and couldn't believe my eyes. In my hand layed a '2 Öre' silver coin from 1570! It is a very rare coin to find and I only know one Swedish detectorist to of found one of these. The king is called 'Johan III' and my coin is a very uncommon type: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces131927.html My type of this coin has the king on it's reverse side which is really cool. Why my coin is copper is cause Johan III used to cheat and silver plate these coins instead of making them 50% silver. Here are the pictures:

Thank you for reading. This could probably be my best find this year and I'm very happy for it. Happy Hunting and Good Luck!

Damn! Nice finds...I'm always thrilled to find 1800s, I can't imagine finding 1500's!

Wow - what an excellent set of finds, capped with that extraordinary 16th century coin! We have no hopes of such in the states, unless maybe an early shipwreck find has one that old. It's always interesting to see what comes up over in Europe. Congratulations! :occasion14:

Good finds, plenty of Swedish coins to be found here too.

Some awesome finds. That skilling looks to be in great shape. Congrats.

Congrats on your old coin, glad there was enough left to ID it.
