:hello:

I have posted this after a request from Crusader and Westfront. Although it's a find from a few weeks ago it's just come to light after being recovered from the scrap bucket after a heavy down poor revealed it. The find is a very rare 1stC Roman Millefiori Mount or Stud. (probably a harness mount).. None recorded on the UKFD (except this one) Millefiori - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Although brooches of this design have. It still amazes me the some of the craftsmanship from ancient times.

My partner and I just don't know which one of us found this as we both placed items into the bucket after recent hunts :icon_scratch: This is not the first time I have over looked a good find, must stop doing that :laughing7: In 2006 a similar stud was blocked from being sold abroad until the required money was raised to keep it in the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millefioriefiori

Now that's just down right pretty! Congrats on the mount, it's one of the coolest looking designs and amazing craftsmanship they had back in the ancient times. Who ever owned this wasn't a commoner that's for sure, I'd guess they were up the ladder a fare bit. :occasion14:

That is a really neat find. What is the type of metal to the backing of the glass? Is it copper?
