:hello:

I have posted this after a request from Crusader and Westfront. Although it's a find from a few weeks ago it's just come to light after being recovered from the scrap bucket after a heavy down poor revealed it. The find is a very rare 1stC Roman Millefiori Mount or Stud. (probably a harness mount).. None recorded on the UKFD (except this one) Millefiori - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Although brooches of this design have. It still amazes me the some of the craftsmanship from ancient times.

My partner and I just don't know which one of us found this as we both placed items into the bucket after recent hunts :icon_scratch: This is not the first time I have over looked a good find, must stop doing that :laughing7: In 2006 a similar stud was blocked from being sold abroad until the required money was raised to keep it in the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millefioriefiori

Thats a beauty item !! Congrats on saving it 2 X !! :occasion14: :metaldetector: :treasurechest:

Wow, what a beautiful find. Looks like a 400-500 dollar piece, perhaps a bit more. Way nicer than most similar items I've seen selling over the years. Does it qualify as something to contact your FLO about and sell to a museum, or will one of you two be holding on to it?

Thats a beauty SS! Never seen an enamelled artifact in that condition other the ones out of excavations. Absolute stunning craftsmanship! Thanks for posting, this thing rocks! :headbang:

We don't have to turn it in, but it really belongs in a Museum.

Not just enamelling Mate, inlaid glass as well... on a 3cm artefact...wow, that's craftsmanship.

Sometimes it's just unbelievable how they did that. Best thing (other than recovering it) is the condition. How big is the chance to find such a beautiful piece in that condition after nearly 2000 years in the ground? It's a killer find in many ways!

Yes, SS.........as Crusader said........ a "Stunning!" find!!!!!!!!

Amazing find, and Amazing that it survived in the ground without a hit from a plow!
