Detector(s) used
Xterra 705, F2, Etrac, T2, V3i, AT Pro, CTX3030, Equinox 800, Vanquish 540, Go-Find 66, F5, Q60, Apex
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I have been detecting for about 2 years. I know I might be a 'noobie' compared to a lot of the vets on here, but due to my 'obsessive compulsive' disorder personality, I can tell I am so much further ahead than I was on day #1 when my Minelab Xterra 705 arrived. During my first 6 months, I detected 6 days a week about 6-8 hours a day. I was selling real estate, the market was slow, and I had a ton of time to burn. I still get out every hour possible.

Here is my progression in detectors in the last 2 years, and why I was thinking an F75. I didn't want to just throw this on the F75 thread, as I know a lot of you have had F75s BUT have others detectors in addition, you know?
It is not a comparison, or even a "this-is-better-than-that"... BUT.... instead.... it's a "would this fit into my arsenal better than other detectors, at this point?"

***Bought a Minelab Xterra 705 as my first detector
***Bought a Fisher F2 for a back up or anyone who wanted to go with me.
***Sold the Fisher F2.
***Bought a Teknetics T2 and a 12x15" SEF coil as a second detector.
***Sold the Xterra 705 and upgraded to an Etrac.
***Sold the T2 and bought an AT Pro for the rainy days so I didn't fry my Etrac
***Bought a White's V3i as an additional main detector.

So, right now I have the Etrac, V3i, and AT Pro. I use the AT Pro for rainy days. The AT Pro is a good machine, but it can not come close to the Etrac and V3i, especially once you learn the Etrac and V3i and set them up to be 'monsters' in the area you hunt. I am in the market for a 4th detector. another top-of-the-line machine.
There are a few reasons why I think an F75 would be a great addition to my arsenal compared to other detectors. My T2 I had for a short time was pretty much a cookie-cutter of the F75. I had it for a short time, and wish I had more time on it.

Maybe you can give me your opinion, if you have an F75 or HAD one or how it fits into your mix??? Or....should go for something else????

***The Etrac and V3i weigh a lot more than the F75, and I hunt many many hours and think a little less weight would be nice.
***The F75 has a super fast recovery, which is nice when you want to swing fast instead of slow-n-low like the Etrac and V3i.
***The F75 is very deep. I am digging 13-14" with a program/filters I designed for the V3i. I am hitting colonial that deep and need deep detecting.
***I love 4 tones. the Etrac has 30 tones, the V3i has 255 tones, but I run them both with 4 tones and am happy and have success.
***I dig all decent signals. The Etrac has 1750 target ID segments, the V3i 191, but I am fine with the 1-100 (like my AT Pro) and when in doubt, I dig it.
***I like the mild tones of the Etrac and 705, but I also liked the harsher tones of the F2 and T2 and V3i, especially the F2 and T2 sounds when pinpointing.

So what do you think?

stay with white's or a mine lab like you said "once set up no-then can touch them "toss the Garrett in the trash

can any one tell what makes the atpro a pro when it has very little pro features besides it name and one pro mode

you want to here a detector scream at pin point try an mxt

liftloop.... what's funny is that I have an MXT emulator program for the V3i. It pretty much runs it like the MXT with the sounds, reactions, tones, speeds, etc.... I know what you mean!...lol

The F75 is physically identical to the T2 but the programming is different. If you liked the T2 you will like the F75 . . . possibly better.

If you like to move fast and hunt trashy areas - the speed and seperation of the F75 are superb.

The F-75 has picked up relics that I know I missed and hunted over with other machines . Little learning curve. Quindy on here has a good article in American Digger this month about the F-75.

Man you have and have had a lot of machines in 2 years.
You should look into Tesoro. Try a screenless detector to change it up. You have 2 high end machines and a good shallow water detector.
I was mainly an Explorer guy but once I tried a Tesoro I got hooked. No screen so your ears do all the work. Totally will surprise you and it's different from what you have.
If I had the Etrac and the V3i I wouldn't be looking at an F 75. but were all different.
I just wish it didn't take 15 years of detecting to try a Tesoro.

Ronzie.... Everyone seems to forget about tesoro for some reason(?) It's always about the big 4, mostly. Garrett.... Fisher/Teknetics.... Minelab.... White's.
When I was looking for my first detector it was actually between a Xterra 705, a Vaquero and a Garrett 1500....

Viddy, you have a great arsenal. The advantage of adding the F75 in my opinion is the difference in weight for comparable depth. You can hunt for a longer period without arm strain and still find deep targets and use a fast recovery/swing speed. I'd actually recommend you step it up to the F75 LTD/SE. The boost mode and cache mode are worth the difference in price.

I have an old Tesoro and that dog will hunt. We have great spots that TVA has run electrical lines over and the old Tesoro runs as quiet as can be and screams at signals 12''. It stays in my truck all the time just in case I come upon a place to check out.

If I get an F75, it would be the LTD/SE for sure. yes, I have quite the arsenal, and it seems to be growing...LOL. I even have, as they say, 'redundant systems'. LOL. I have a lot of backups. 2 Pro Pointers, 2 Lesche Diggers + a gator digger, 2 probes, 2 recovery pounches, 2 longhandle sandscoops + 1 hand scoop, 4 sets of headphones + the White's wireless + the AT Pro set, minimum of 4 sets of batteries for each system in my bag, 2 headlamps + 2 SureFire flashlights with pole mounts (for night hunting), cold weather gloves, all weather gloves, and divers gloves, all detectors have full raincovers and grip covers, additional coils, plus misc stuff like AT Pro headset adapter, personal electronic mosquito control units, Lesche shovel, etc etc etc etc....I'll make sure I hit you up for the F75 if I get it. God Bless Texas! I worked at the Dallas/Ft Worth airport for a while, and lived in Koppel. Texas is great!
