I looked through my extensive notes and can confidently say, based on the limited information, it is an amatuer rendition of Jabba the Hutt or Wilson from Castaway.

It is located in the Zagros Mountains of Iraq and there are several large rocks at a distance of about 50 meters

Do they all have similar color/oxidation?

I'd say it was an attempt to split that rock.

Close up the color looks like it’s due to Lichen. Probably a licheness of Saddam Hussein. Not to many Lichen him.

Look perpendicular over it's shoulder/back. It represents a slug/snail. Should be a compass bearing like 300/120 , 330/150, 240/60, 210/30.
