Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Had a chance to get out yesterday and headed to the south. People have started to get back out to the beach and finds are starting to pickup a little. The water was calm for a change which made getting out even more enjoyable. I had an interesting thing happen yesterday. I have come across a lot of coin spills and coin rows in the wet sand since i have been detecting but never have experienced finding 225 coins, nickels, dimes, quarters, pennies, dollar coins and foreign coins all in about a 10 foot radius. What was funny was getting 10 to 20 coins per scoop. I could not believe that all these coins had been pushed to a 10 foot radius. I had to dig them all thinking that there had to be rings there but it turned out to be just coins.

I did manage a nice find 21K 4.4 gram ring, a stainless ring, 10k medallion and a wonderful ear gauge that I thought was a ring until i got a good look at it. Thanks for looking, Keep safe, wear those mask and stay healthy. HH

Great hunt! Well done.

Excellent! I'd check that coin collecting spot again to see...

Beach hunts always make me smack my head my head for getting into detecting AFTER moving away from beaches..

..then again people digging the old stuff makes me smack my head for getting into detecting after moving away from Pennsylvania and east coast..

Great finds, great spill, great ring!

Congrats on the coin cornucopia! Strange how it grouped like that in that huge amount.

I have hit a few of the coin and even a ring hoard once. Amazing how the tide and currents pull everything together.

On the ring hoard it was actually my wife that hit it. She pulled 13 silver rings out of an area about 20ft radius. When she finished, I went over it and got another 3. All was silver.

That’s incredible. I would love to experience that. HH

Congrats on the fine hunt! :occasion14:

Had similar experience at Clearwater beach a few yrs ago. Pulled over 200 coins from a very small area on a sandbar and worked it all day long expecting to find gold underneath, but it never happened. Heard from another MDer on the beach later that season that he and his buddies discovered the same area and pulled around 800 coins from the area. [Only accessible at certain times of the season due to tide.] Last year on soggy wet sand on a recently formed beach, after hurricane season, I came across a small area saturated with coins and harvested about 30 coins/hr all day long, and went back several times gridding the area. Also found a gold locket. Very interesting.

Love that rich color of 21k..Nice save!!
