"FANCHON" case

I found this at about 6 inches on an old house lot. It was full of dirt and pieces of broken mirror. So I assume it was a cosmetics case. The only word on the case is "FANCHON", which I believe may mean "From France." It gave me a 38 signal on my X-Terra 70.

Does anyone have any other ideas or information on it?

Re: "FANCHON" case

With a web search I found that Palmolive had a cosmetic line by this name, making such things as rouge, face powder, talcum powder, etc. Saw some mentions of tins from these from the 1920's, which stylistically sounds like yours, but I found no pictures for comparison in my brief search.

Nice compact,, Usually don't find both pieces, much less with the hinge still attached
