That's gorgeous! Any markings at all on it?

I looked all over it and I could not find any markings.thanks for looking

Looks to be in the date range of 1890 -1910 , with no hallmarks it might be hard to say definitively who made it . Looks to be
made of brass.

really interesting and a very useful item back then, just really cool

Looks Art Nouveau period to me 1890-1910.

Concur with the others on date...........

Just thinking out loud here, and of course just one opinion, I'm thinking it is a bit on the large side. I did see a pic. of one remotely similar was 2 5/8 tall.

There are 3 or 4 match safes on this page, all 2 and a half to 2 5/8 tall, there is one called a calling card case more inline with the size of yours ?

I think Rick makes an interesting point about the size , the clincher may be when you turn it upside down - if there is no apparent
striker (metal ridges) then I think the calling card case is spot on .

there are metal ridges at the bottom ..I didn't think it was for striking I just thought it was part of the design.I will try to post another picture of the bottom and with measurements.

Besides the people on it it looks close and the same size to the one I found in a old spot with 19th century finds! No markings on mine at all either. I always thought it was a match safe.

First thing I thought was Adam and Eve when I saw the characters. Nice one.
