Though not spectacular and a little crusty I thought I would share a couple finds from a couple years ago metal detecting in a 1890s-1940s farm dump. The sign is probably from around the 1920s. What seems strange is the nearest railroad was about 2 miles away. I also found a 1920s Sterling silver mechanical pencil about the same time I found the sign.

:icon_thumright: Nice wall hangar there. If it's cast iron, I think it's circa 1929. 1929-wooden-railroad-crossing-sign.webphttps://www.roadtrafficsigns.com/railroad-crossing-crossbuck-sign-history

That is cool! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Great find...thank you for sharing. I would centerpiece that sign in R.R. Relic finds. Time to start hunting old abandoned R.R. Grades.

Very nice, I have a dump on my property.
Maybe this year I will take some time out to dig it up.

Sweet finds !!!! Great post
