Found this in a farm field in ks other things seem to date from 1870 ish. I suspect a structure maybe a house, but the occasional piece of an implement shows up like a rake tine or a bolt… not surprising being a farm field for 100+ years no idea where to start on this one.. there was that show where they guys detected places they’d call it a HOI … hunk of iron but maybe someone here has a better idea

Hi Older The Better,
Boy this month we have had a run on these similar items.

It is either Antique Metal Man's Suspender Buckle Clip...or Antique Gas Lamp Lowering Device?

Both items require Wheel Pulley's inside device.

I can see why you say that but this is 5/8 - 3/4” thick iron all the way around, it seems too bulky and unnecessary for clothing. Also I don’t see any attachment points or pulleys on the lower end… I’ll look into it though wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong this week about something from this site

I guess everyone sees something different. I almost immediately thought of an old transmission shift fork for a tractor or similar. Here's an example of they type still used on a manual shift transmission.

Interesting I could see that, I thought maybe a kind of torque spanner I think is the word… I’ve used something similar installing aluminum air lines where your torque wrench goes in a little hole behind the mouth of the wrench/spanner… only thing is this hole is round which I imagine wouldn’t work
