Started the day in the back garden of an old farm house. My hunch that it would produce some old finds was way off. At one point I thought I had been teleported to a US State Park, with US coins out numbering UK. I had a small spill of 1 Qter, 2 X 5 Cents:laughing7: Crud'Dad did get our largest Lead Weight, not sure on age but looks 200+ (2 Hours)
We then moved to a field that used to be ploughed & now is sown with grass & had been recently cut for Hay. To our surprise the grass was already 4 inches tall & we nearly turned the car around to try elsewhere. Glad we didn't as we had a great result for only 1hr 45mins:

9 Roman Coins (equally last months total in less than 2 hrs):hello2:
Constantius I AE follis. DIVO CONSTANTIO PIO / MEMORIA FELIX London Mint:headbang: (a nice album coin we need & a hard to get Emporer for us)
Belt Mount
Lead Token
Tudor Button

Very happy with this result in June!

Thanks, we thought we had cleared the site last year. Its not a great site, only about 30-40 coins & no silver, but it just proves that we miss stuff as well as anyone.

Bautiful Follis! Amazing amount of US coins. How old? The weight is a good one for the lead crate! Well done!

I like the much small one better, than to fetch a silver a lot.

Sweet Roman, love the fact that not all crappy zincs stay in our country. That's 6 less that I have to dig.

My first thought was that the coins where somewhat WWII related, a chance for getting silver from that place.... Years ago i found a wallet and a coat in a trench with some change and a pic in it. But not able to track down the owner...think he died there....

Thats an awesome coin for sure crusader, and an interesting weight.Great hunt.:leprechaun-hat:

Nice Constantius Follis !!!

Beautiful Roman.

What is the coin looking thing in picture number 6 with a grid like or waffle pattern to it?

Very nice day, I just could not imagine finding a coin that old.
Thank you for sharing.

Thats the Lead Token, it has a simple geometric flower on the reverse. These are extremely difficult to date, as they were made for hundreds of years & had lots of difference uses when there were shortages of small change (which was fairly constant). This I think would be circa 17th C.

Think you are right about the kids theory. Any kid with a coin he can't spend will almost certainly loose it! Hutch.
