Hello All,

Have had fun beach detecting in Florida once the tropical storm moved through. Unfortunately the waves are sill rough and a red flag out still so can’t go out as far as I’d like in the surf. Heard a jingle in the scoop and couldn’t believe it when I saw this FAT gold band sparkling in the sun!

Nice haul Buck, that ring is a serious lunker. I didn't know you were a beachcomber too! I think I've put in dozens of hours detecting the sand and have yet to find anything memorable. I guess I don't have any mojo there and should stick to the old dirt. Now when we're at the beach I just enjoy the water and leave the detector behind.

An early find at the beach got me hooked (silver ring washed right past my feet with a wave and I reached down and picked it up!). Then it was several more years of dry runs during our annual beach vacation and finally I had a BIG two days last year:

Yeah, I really do prefer land detecting (and we go on vacation for only 1-2 weeks to the beach each year), but there's nothing quite like gold in the scoop! It took me a while to get used to it all (reading the beach, doing my homework and research, being willing to read the beach with the detector in the car and find the right beach before I turned the detector on, getting used to using a pulse detector...).

Bet that made the Dual Field go BOING! Neat.

Was actually a fairly faint signal. Several scoops down in the water. Any more deep and I probably wouldn't have heard it due to the noise from the surf moving sand under the coil.

Nice gold! Where in Florida were you at, I live close to Destin.

Sorry we missed each other. I'll reach out to you next year and we can team up for a beach hunt. We were staying in the Destin/Santa Rosa/Miramar area.

If that won't turn you into a Pirate nothing else will!! Very Nice!!

I found my first gold ring in 2008 and totally stopped land hunting..Never looked back.

If I lived closer to the beach it'd be a temptation! But it'd be Reale hard to turn my back on all the great finds from the fields!

Let me know next time y'all are in town buddy!

Congrats on the sweet find, what a chunk. Such a nice little diversion from the usual Spanish silver, Seateds and relics.A half ounce gold ring, the couple I’ve found weigh like 2 grams. Good show.

Best of luck to you all.
