Father's Day Button Bonanza!!!
Sunday was a hard day for me. It was the first Father's Day I have spent without my Dad. He passed away on the 9th of February of this year. I decided to go metal detecting on the spur of the moment. I don't know why, but I feel like my Dad is with me when I metal detect. I guess it's because of all the good times we shared together sharing this great hobby. I went to a spot both of us had been to together, but it had been over a decade since my last trip there. I didn't expect to find that much but I guess he was guiding me to the relics. By the time I left I had 5 buttons in my button container, 2 of them coat state seals, 2 eagle buttons, and a tiny kepi flower button. I also found several bullets, 2 pack hooks, a piece of gold plated jewelry with 3 stones, a tombac button, a piece to a shoulder scale, and a fancy kepi buckle. When I got home the 2 state buttons turned out to be a beautiful coat New York State seal and a beautiful coat Michigan State Seal. I also just got a message from Meigs Brainard who informed me the fancy kepi buckle is associated with Texas troops. I will let everyone know more about this find as I find out more info. I sure do miss my Dad. HH Devonrex
