FBS coil

I am curious and maybe someone can answer my question. Since the coil and detector are frequency matched, how does the fbs coil operate with the 28 frequencies? Is the coil constructed different or does the detector process the signal differently? Is the detector matched to a specific frequency and compensate for the rest? If some can explain how it works, I would like to hear it and understand it better.
