The siren call of the old farm was too hard to resist today with the weather being nice. Despite having my youngest in tow, I managed about 3 hours of hunting. Recovered a 1977 Lincoln Memorial (so they tell me, I can't read it), 1999 Rosie, and a 1996 quarter. So no older coins as hoped. But I decided a couple hours of not-so-hot detecting beats a couple good hours of writing lesson plans and correcting tests. At the end I was tired.....whether from digging/swinging or answering my 2.5 YO daughter's unending questions, I'm not sure!

I did find my first lipstick cover and, in the composting potatoes, a vegetable peeler. (oops...so that's where it went!)

Thanks for looking and HH.

Way to get out there & dig em Anne! What a little cutie your daughter is! Glad you found that potato peeler.

You seem new to the sport Anne, if so may I suggest some things about the Ace ? Get right up close to the foundations of all buildings, but carefull of pipes and wires that may not have been buried at the proper depth. If your Ace seems to be beeping or ringing a single time or two and then stopping, turn down your sensitivity. Hunt in all metal mode with nothing descriminated. Yes you'll dig lots of trash this way, but heck it's your yard, so you might as well clean it up. Plus you go deeper and if you overlap your swings by just an inch or two you'll find the good stuff. Every house older than fifty years will have at least some silver in the yard if it hasn't already been hunted. If your finding trash, you'll find silver as you clean the trash out.

BTW great start and beautiful assistant, enjoy the time, they grow up and change their interest to boys all too fast.

Great hunt Anne

Fun fall day with the family and a detector, what could be better and the pics were great! loved each one. I went hunting with Wallhangers "Mark" this weekend and we are trying to think of a place to take you gals were yer gonna get some old coins. Maybe we'll even get ya swinging one of there big explorer SE's to see what ya think of that and help gain you some experience. I know your wanting to find some old coins and thats why we all get into this great hobby. I think we will be able to get you gals on top of some good area and then its just a matter of luck to see what ya can get!
