Thanks for looking. Question: I'm finding green slate like this:

Is that necessarily a sign that I'm getting close to a nice gorget or banner stone? I hope so!

Nice finds Rusty. I like that big quartz point. Heck, I like them all.

Nice finds there NC. On your slate point what color is it where you are at? I know sometimes its a different color when posted. Doesn't look slate to me is the reason I ask. Unless your slate is a different color than ours.

Really nice finds! I believe I could identify these as North Carolina finds even if I didn't know where you were from.........My finds look so similar.

The color of slate? Personally, I have found grey/black, green and brown. I'm not swearing this point is slate. I'm interested in why you say it isn't slate. The more I study geology, the more confused I get.

Nice haul there NC. ! Some nice ones in the bunch.

You have some really nice find there! So you have been holding back on us, but glad you were able to have a successful hunt.

Thanks Painter! Digger, I'm not really holding out. I haven't been out as much this summer. When I do get out, my finds are the same ol same ol. No jasper Clovis from a gopher hole, no tally marked gorgets, nothing like what I see you guys posting. Lol! Rock, that stone does have a purple hue to it. It may be a rhyolite that I'm unfamiliar with. Here is another piece similar.

I have never held a piece of Rhyolite, is it a soft stone and what I have seen of it posted, I have never seen any with bands like that piece:dontknow:

Idk what kind of material but it's pretty

If you would like a little hands on with rhyolite, PM me an address monster. I'd be glad to send you a few worked pieces and a blank or two if you want to play around with it. I know you enjoy knapping. Rhyolite is similar to obsidian.

Yeah nice looking stuff but idk what type it is. I can see why they liked it.

I will tell you like I told Painter, spend as much time in the field and study your area as hard has you can and something will show up, look at what Painter has found and it is all from hard work.

very cool finds, your collection must be incredible.

Nice one's hunter. The slate point almost has a petrified-wood look to it.I have seen some petrified points that look similar, but I really don't know? It's a neat one whatever the case.
