I took the crappiest indian head cent I had to get a baseline for where it would show on the screen. I blacked out everything below it and left the entire top of the screen open all the way to the left. I then used learn to get buffalo nickels in- and opened the line all the way to the left. In trashy sites- you will still hear the good tone- but the cursor will still be located way to the left. If this was blacked out, there is a good chance it would be nulled and you would miss it. This program only works in ferrous tones.

It takes a while to get used to the onslaught of iron thuds, but you will get used to them after a while. Ignore the high monotone sounds and only dig the repeatable ( 1 way or 2 way) fluty sounds (sounds that have multiple notes to them for lack of a better description). A lot of these signals are only 1 way because of the iron thud covering it from the other direction, if it sounds fluty 1 way and is repeatable dig it.

I also am having much better luck with fast on rather than deep.

Let me know how it works or if anyone has any ideas to add.

Interesting. I'll have to give this one a try as I'm learning the SE Pro. I started today first time out with the SE Pro at an OLD tree with LOTs of trash. DEEP was on, FAST off, standard factory discrimination. There were tons of flutey sounds everywhere... when I got home in my front yard it was quieter and I could pick things out better. There sounds like theres a lot of good stuff in my front yard, btw.

In trashy areas use fast this helps seperate rubbish signals. Also dont run in high sensitivity, most targets are within 4 inches of the surface running at sensitivity setting around 10 is more than enough. Also swing very slowly this also helps seperate your signals. Be careful not to get carried away with the selective discrimination by discriminating out too many rubbish targets. What will happen is you will lose good targets which are close by the rubbish items because the machine has blanked out the rubbish and has not recovered back normal operation in time blanking out the good target nearby. This is where Fast recovery setting is useful. Take your time to learn the SE most important thing is to learn the tones of your targets. When detecting listen carefully you might only get a very quick signal which in time you will recognise and then carefully hunt around the area to narrow down on the target. Good hunting seeya Neilo

Trashy areas the secret is to swing like you are pinpointing.
