I agree with Gaylord, it does look Aztecan or Mayan. I would definitely take it to an archaeology professor at a local college. If it's bone and old, I'd say you've got yourself one heck of a find there.
gents
it's definatly bone for sure. It is white in color, the blue is from the photo.I'll take it to the University and see what they say.
Thanks for the help
I think you've really got something there! Please keep us posted, and don't fall for the old "IT-ISN'T-REALLY-WORTH-A-DIME-BUT-TO-BE-A-NICE-GUY-I'LL-TAKE-IT-OFF-YOUR-HANDS-FOR-A-BUCK" routine.
I would talk to someone in person they get a much better look at it and plus it takes around three months to get a reply back...and even then they tell you to send it somewhere else. HH Jonathan
india, does this find have anything to do with the shipwreck in your other post? Looks like your on your way to a great adventure. Good luck. Cool find.
Yurt boy
I'v had two responses that I think are plausable. Both think that it is Mayan, and conservatively worth 40k at auction they said. I have know idea as to the value,, but will continue to research it. Take care
I'd love to see a clearer picture. It looks like a talisman or earplug. The bone is very white, which is kind of unusual--especially if it is very old. Perhaps whalebone ivory.
Can you send a clearer photo?
Cheers

IMHO....I just thought it a pedant for a necklace. Even if it were to be old I would still guess something like that . If it were Chinese, I would say what they used to carve and have hanging on their belts. Those things are worth something some times, so the Antiques Road Show says.
Well I hope it a grand price for you! And it is awesome no matter what the cost!
I can tell you how to find out if it is Ivory. Heat a pin up and lightly stick it in an inconspiculous spot. Ivory will burn and it will smell like burnt hair it's hard to miss the smell.
Interesting find anyway.

By the way i learned that on the Road Show
