All Treasure Hunting
Hey everyone.. The past few weeks have been horrible for me.. Last week's 4 boxes of halves and 14 dime boxes gave me only two Rosies...This week I was able to bump up my halves order a little more, but it didn't seem to help. All 6 boxes were skunks. On a positive note, my good average with dimes did come back.. This week gave me 32 keepers.. 31 Rosies and a 1959 canadian.. Nothing to write home about, but I figured it was worth a post.. Two ounces of 90% Ag is still better than nothing.. My plan from here on out is to continue to hunt volume in dimes and then as my bank roll grows, gradually step up my halves hunting to the volume I used to hunt... I commend all you guys for your patience.. I simply don't have it.. I began to focus on dimes when I continually saw 40 box streaks.. I left my hometown for a summer at the beach and figured it would be a good time to start some dime hunting.. Hopefully by the time my halves volume gets back to where it used to be, there will be a little more silver in the boxes and I will have a nice collection of dimes in the safe.. For now, I am fine with a little accumulation here and there.. Hope everyone is gearing up for a good holiday.. May your boxes be loaded my friends.. HH :hello:

Love the hot young Queen.

I can get nearly 1 rosie a day from teller trays, visiting 15 or so banks.

Fetcher - do you really ask tellers "can I have all your dimes?" Or do you spy the trays for silver? Just curious

Way to let the cat out of the bag. Now the dimes are gonna dry up.

I can assure you, I am not letting the cat out of the bag.. Most hunters are well aware of the results one can achieve with dimes, but won't hunt them either because their bank roll is already tied up in halves or they know they wont find a box that holds hundreds of dollars in silver.. I am fine with small accumulations over a long period of time.. Most hunters are not.. Also, I didn't realize my small post on dimes is going to directly cause them to dry up.. ::) Maybe I should be more careful.. I would have assumed the numerous posts for years before me would have.. Lol..

I figured lol.. I just had to poke you back.. CWR dimes have never been too good for me, so I normally don't ask tellers for them.. I am forever staring at the teller's tray though.. I have found some really nice coins by taking a little peak..

I haven't admitted myself to the asylum yet but probably soon will. Still holding out hope on the halves.

DOn't get me wrong buddy.. I haven't given up on halves, just taken a break for awhile to concentrate on dimes until I have enough bank roll to do volume in both.. With all the wasted gas, back pain, and complaining from my woman, it was time for a break. I was losing a good amount of money.. For now I at least break even almost every week.. I love halves like a fat kid loves cake.. I will go back to volume eventually, but for now 4-6 boxes a week is fine for me.. Now if my numbers start picking up with those 6 boxes, you will see me drop my dimes orders right away lol...

Dimes are great. I have found some of my oldest coins dime searching as well. The big thing to remember with dimes is they are easy to work with. Easy to carry , and very east to get rid of. Coin machines will eat a box or 2 up in minutes, and banks have no problem taking lots of rolls of dimes. The turn over is much faster with dimes. I do about 5 to 8 boxes of dimes in between my half dollar orders. Keeps the silver coming in. I have got just over 13 ounces of silver this year searching dimes to pass the time between half orders. Well worth it! HH

I completely agree. Even if you have an extra day, hop around to a couple branches you do not normally frequent and pick up a couple boxes..

I spy, and when I see silver, I either ask for the white coin, or if their are multiples, I ask for all of their dimes in the tray.

I do not just ask for dimes. I only pipe up when I See it. Usually, its in the first place, and they know it's silver.

I really like "the white coin" idea... Thats a great way to state it.. I have also noticed that any time there is silver in the tray, they always put them in the first slot at the bottom of the rest of the coins.. It makes me wonder why they wouldn't just hide them all together if they know it is silver.. One time I got 3 90% halves from a tray and she was very mad that I asked to purchase them.. Oh well.. My win.. her loss..

I have been doing the same as you colonial...

Only recently started ordering halves, havent had any luck yet... but dimes I always get atleast 1 per box, except a solid 2012 dime box...

My halve luck is within CWR's and teller trays... got 5 from teller trays this week, 1 90% rest 40%

I also just love how convenient dimes are... Very easy to get rid of.. I have even let some loose at convenience stores seeing if they need any coins..

I get halves from the teller tray but dimes? How do you go about that?

I would recommend just keeping an eye on the tray every time you go in.. The silvers will stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest.. Even if it is dimes

What he said. I got a slick rimmed silver dime the otherday. Thin Rosey from the 50s.

I have been tricked by brand new clad dimes. some of the rims are so shiny, they look white, or like silver proofs.

Also, canadian coin - I ask for quarters and dimes, and always buy them, silver or not. So I can sort them later, or just an alternate currency savings. I have about 500 in Canadian so far...lol - much higher returns on silver though. that 500 in Canadian has yielded close to $2.00 face Canadian silver. I always talk about that though. new subject!
