Hey all, its been a while since I have posted cause I have had nothing to post about. I went on a very small road trip today, stopping at five banks total, all stops were skunks except one. Based on the look of the old type rolls, I thought it was my time to score the elusive "solid roll", but nope. It still eludes me. I did however score 19 silvers out of the five old looking rolls, best part was that 14 of the silvers were 90% (all kens). That score got my addiction going full force, and I had to find more.... So, on my way back to my hometown, I was able to pick up about 800 bucks worth of halves from a bank near my house, and I finally scored that first Walking Liberty that has been so hard to find. It is by far, the most beautiful W.L. I have ever seen, it is in AU condition. the date is 1941-S. My question is, does the S mean it is a proof? the only reason I ask, is because it is as thick as any proofs I have found.

Anyways, I still havent went all the way through the 800 bucks of halves, but have found about 6 silvers so far, (including the w.l.).

Thanks for reading, happy hunting.

great finds

there were proof WL's in '36-'42 but they don't have mint marks. The '41S WL is a circulated strike coin and may just look thick because it's in such nice condition. The '41 proof WL had a mintage of just 15,412 which would be a really nice score - but quite unlikely.

Btw, I found a really nice '46S WL myself early last month that is in near XF condition and it's my favorite WL I've found so far. It may be quite a while before I'll ever find one as nice as that one.

Good luck with the rest of the coins :)

nice WL score! congrats on a find i'm waiting for!

Nice score! Way better luck than I have with CWRs. Congrats on the first Walker! :icon_thumleft:

nice finds Doc, congrats !!

I think I'm going to plan my next trip up to Salt Lake County. My favorite WL is still the 1917-D I found a while back.

Hey now, nobody said anything about anything special in salt lake county..... I will be a good CRH'ing neighbor and let you know ahead of time, that there is nothing here that is worth you wasting your time and gas looking for... JK buddy. If you do make it up this way, let me know how you do. A while ago, I was constantly thinking I needed to get down to Utah County for some CRH'ing, and when I finally did, I thought, wow, this is worse then where I live. All I heard was, no halves, and you're the third person TDAY who has asked-and the likes...

Happy hunting.

The "faraway" effect at work. I actually don't have a car so I don't have to worry about gas money. Trade off is less time I'm able to hit banks. Last trip up I got 12 Silver Dimes spending most of the day downtown and finishing in West/South Jordan. I can't tell you how badly I want to hit the banks in places like Duchesne and Roosevelt. Not to mention the gold panning spot out by Roosevelt/Vernal.
