I get into the 1700's club. Found a 1762 2 Reale hunting a area that several 1800's coins have been found and a buddy found a 1721 half reale last year. Found using the AT Pro about 2 feet from a monster size tree. Not much of a signal but enough of a repeatable whisper to know that something was there. It was down about 8-9 inches.
:hello2:

Wow! Great shape too!

Great silver there Sheppie! I live just west of Cincinnati, did you find that in Milford?
Not Milford but in the Cincinnati area.

Amazing find - well done!

Well done!!

I used to target large trees in the UK as the roots keep things close to the surface, and people tend to sit under them all thru the ages!

well done

Welcome to the Club!!!! Found my first 1700's coin about 3 weeks ago.

That is a beauty! :icon_thumright:

That's an amazing find for Cincinnati. Do you figure it was dropped by a coin collector or something?

No, The area that it was found in has already produced 2 other reales to my hunting buddy and various other early 1800's U.S. coins. It is a huge area that once had a few old homesteads on it.

Wow! :occasion18::occasion16::wav::occasion16::occasion18: One of the most gorgeous old Spanish coins I've seen on t-net! Great condition!

After 3 years, I still haven't broken into the 1800's, much less the 1700's, lol. :dontknow: In 38 more years I'll be 100 so maybe that will be my lucky year! :tongue3: But I do treasure my oldest coin, a 1923 Peace silver dollar. Andi

p.s. -- oops, I'll be 110 in 38 more years -- my how time flies when you're having fun! :cat: Three of my senior citizen friends each lived happily to more than 100 years, and their "secret" was keeping physically active, realizing that there's many things we can't change, and living each day to its fullest, despite aging limitations & one being confined to wheelchair during her last busy years. Andi

That sure is a beautiful silver coin, it must of been very exciting to pull that from it's dirt nap! Nice save, congrats!

Great find! With all the colonial silver we find here in eastern Virginia we rarely see the milled pillar variety like yours. And I don't recall seeing the 2 reale denomination dug before either. Nice going, and congrats on breaking that long-sought after barrier.

Thanks to all for your kind remarks. I'm still numb.

Now that is a great find for our area! i keep dreaming of breaking into the 1700s in our area. Your post gives me hope. congrats. ive seen a couple other posts with that kind of age. a guy over in lebanon if i remember correctly.

Congratulations, sure hope I dont have to wait another 18 years to score somethimg that great.

Real(e) newbie here, i just got my first MD for Father's Day. Nothing fancy, a Bounty Hunter kit with the pinpointer and bag. Well out on my second hunt yesterday in Southern Tennessee on some hunting property with a buddy and was passing through an area where we've seen signs of an old homesite. Was finding lots of junk iron and such but having a lot of fun. Came across a hit that indicated 10cent.....and dug up a 1761m 1 reale!!! Holy smokes!!! Talk about starting out with the bar set high for myself! Needless to say....I'm hooked.:laughing7:
