Hi all! (Is my title clickbait-ish enough?) :laughing7:

Got out on a hunt yesterdday with the_mad_cladder and wv1978. There were several spots within a few hundred yards of each other. At the first spot I found the Cub scouts sterling ring. My first scout ring.

After a bit of a dry spell I walked across the street and found only my third SLQ. It's in decent shape but still doesn't have a date.

We then went to the area where mad_cladder found his seated half the day before. I found the toasty buffalo first and a little while later the silver Washington. Not too far from the Washington I got a 70's signal on the Deus and when I pulled a clump of clay out I noticed the small silver rim sticking out. I had an idea it might be a Trime, but I had been burned by those play money pieces before. As I pulled the clumped apart we noticed it had been gouged. :BangHead: Later I would find it was gouged on both sides. I didn't hit it with my digger. The only thing I can think of is when I pried the dirt/clay, it compressed on the coin and scratched it. That's a bummer, but at least I didn't hit it with my digger. It's pretty slick so I wasn't able to get a date off it. It's my first and probably last trime, but at least I finally found one!

The scratches are new. I tried to make then look as good as possible in the pic. lol I'm pretty sure if my digger had hit it, the scratches would have been a lot bigger or it would have broke it.

I also found some buckles and possibly a spur rowel. It's doesn't seem heavy duty enough so maybe it was from a toy spur? ???

Group shot. Big thanks to T_M_C for taking us to the spot!

Very Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Nice haul. Congrats

Nice day of hunting. I have yet to dig a trime in any condition. Maybe one day.

Awesome finds buddy! You and Clint are tearing it up,lol

Congratulations! I found my first trime this year as well. Mine was a solid 69 in 12 kHz. Digging all mid conductors is the key to finding these little coins. Once again, congratulations!

Thanks man! Once it cools off some we'll get our more.

Thanks! I was in 12 khz also, but I'm running ID Norm so it rang up a little higher. It's my understanding when ID Norm is on, every frequency rings up like 18 khz.

Wow, great finds! Love the SLQ and trime. You gotta update your signature to reflect your 2019 finds!

Ah yes, when ID norm is on, all TID’s will display as if the machine were running in 18 kHz. The problem with this, is that TID’s tend to get “bunched up” towards the upper end of the spectrum, or in the 90’s if you will. Also, running with ID norm on deprives the user of a really cool feature.

In a nutshell, you would save a 12 kHz version of your program to the “left,” an 18 kHz version of your program would be saved to the “right,” and a 4 kHz version of your program would be saved in between the other two. Name the the 4 kHz program check iron, set reactivity to 1, do not decouple sensitivity. Now, wait for one of those questionable targets, for example a 97 or 98. Switch to check iron, and notice that the TID will most likely either disappear or will also display as 97 or 98. Don’t dig, the target is probably iron. If however the TID drops, then by all means dig! Iron tends to retain it’s TID regardless of frequency whereas nonferrous targets will display a higher TID when higher frequencies are used, and a lower TID when lower frequencies are used.

I just recently found a play money and my heart was a thumpen until my foo foo did its job. What a bummer. The very next day at a different location about the same thing happened. Didn't get excited but thought I'd better use the juice just in case. And this materialized as the dirt melted. I have 3-4 pieces of play money in my coin folder to remind me of getting all excited over nothing :BangHead:

Congratulations on your Trime no matter what they’re all beautiful. I’m still amazed I found one myself. Such a great bucket lister to scratch of the list.

Congrats on the trime. That’s a tough one to find..

Looks like you are on a roll.

I have grown tired of those little things like Trimes, Reals & half Reals--- :BangHead:

I want the REALLY small $1 GOLD

Oh,.............. the 1St line of this post----8-)

didn't mean a single word of it :laughing9:

Based on what you’ve described I’m assuming that the coin pictured is a half dime. That’s another example of a coin that won’t necessarily sound too great. In fact, the last one that I found sounded just like an IHP. Again, dig every clean sounding mid conductor. And as always, when in doubt, dig it out!

Awesome hunt! :occasion14:

Glad to see you got a bucket lister looks great. Sounds like a fun day with some cool finds

Dude that’s an awesome find. I am just as excited as you are. Bladerunner carries this plug over to me when he removed it y’all. The edge was showing and it looked silver but we actually spent a min debating what it was before he pulled it. The mark on it was fresh but had to be from a tiny rock up next to it or something. Crazy tender coin.

Kinda also confirms that half I found was not a fluke or a newer drop. When all that drama is over and we get the entire permission back... it is on. That place is special. That trime is an awesome freaking coin man. Epic bucklister for sure. I would normally be a little jelly. You do need to change your handle to “ the silver vacuum though....for realz. Lol

After looking at the maps with my dad, we figured out great grandmother actually lived at the lot Wv1978 was at before we left. I thought it was down the road but I was like 9 when she passed. Then my dad says, “ yeah I used to rent the house up on the hill across the street”! That’s the honey hole! Nuts man. We have found seated stuff at 2 of my dads old homes now. The first was at the end of that dirt road were you dug the Rosie then the seated dime. Wild stuff.

I know I told you bladerunner2019 but for others: the trime is so freakishly thin when they stamped it on each side some of each sides image can be seen on the other side. They are like paper thin.

Does you SLQ have any stars under the eagle? If not, it's an early one. Gary
