Been tough last few hunts. I think over the last 7 outings I scored a total of three buttons, and at least three of those adventures the detector was never even turned on. Today I finally hit a good one! Had to hike a mile deep up a good size hill, but luckily I had an old skidder path for most of the hike, and the woods were not too bad at all. When I first got on site I didnt get much for signals, but that changed quickly. no coins but a bunch of pewter buttons including a nice Mass 3 regiment continental army button. I have others that were definitely something possibly also regimental... any help would be appreciated... also pulled a really nice rat tail spoon, and a nice hand toole escutcheon, and what I am assuming is a drawer pull

great saves!

Wow! Those are some beauties. WTG! I would go back to that area again and......tell no one lol. :icon_thumright:
Definitely heading back! A lot more work to do. There is probably an area of about 3 to 5 acres I need to explore. I will wait until the ferns and lower vegetation dies off

Great finds there 41Digger ! I think that drawer pull is actually a bell clapper. I found an identical one a few years back. I was looking through my Bill Dancy Discovering Virginia Colonial Artifacts, he has an object that looks just like that and he describes it as a bell clapper. The bell clappers tend to have a narrow striking edge like yours does compared to the smooth oval shape of a drawer pull.

Congratulations. That rat tail spoon is pretty old and awesome to find whole.

Well done on the pewter.
Certainly a return hunt is a must.
Not too long now the ferns will be flat.
Best of luck, may a few coppers and silver be showing up in the dirt.

I agree on that being a bell clapper.

Nice finds  Congrats on the 3rd Mass button.

I would definitely spend as much time as possible at that site ,very nice finds.

GREAT FINDS Thanks for sharing with us :)
