Finally I found a 1965sms Half (pic)

I have found one 68s and three 69s; always want to find a 65-67sms Kennedy; Today I got my first sms coin. Looking closely it is much more reflective than a regular strike but not as the 69s I have. The coin on the left is the sms.

I am still looking for my first 70D, 70S, and commemorative of any year!

There were no Proof sets from '65 - '67. Rather, Special Mint Sets, which contained specially prepared coins that were not quite up to Proof standards.

While it may be possible that it's an SMS, it's going to be pretty difficult to prove it.

In the 40%, some SMS's came out proof-like, some came out worse that the UNC halves in the mint sets.

The one pictured doesn't show that deep mirroring traditional of the proofs, but again, not all SMS had that quality too.

Given that it was found with a few other silver proofs, does help convince that it's an SMS.

Hope I didn't cause too much confusion.
