FINALLY I've hit the Civil war Groove

Got out this morning at sunrise with Civilman
and Howard.We got permission to hunt the other
field where the battle of Williamsport was fought.
As some of you know, except for the chewed bullet
and a musket ball, I have yet to find a genuine civil
war bullet.
On a knoll in the middle of the field I found my firs,
a colt 44. 10 feet away I found my second, an Enfield 58.
And still yet, 15 more feet I found another Enield 58.
I was in metal detector heaven. I was flyin' high and
digging every signal.12 south of the first bullet I got
my first cannister shot.









Howard got a sharps 52.



Civilman got a sharps 52 also. I'll let him post his own photos.

Great job, I remember my first CW bullet I dug. Did you know that the item in the middle of the last photo is a CW era gun tool. Great finds!

For a short hunt Ty,not even two hour's I'd say you did pretty damn good....really you had a "4 first" hunt.I don't know how hard that field has been hit in the past but it sure gave up pretty quick in a small area.Congrat's on the cannister shot too!!!...Thank's for the invite!!!

Great finds, I agree with your ID on the enfield, but the other Enfield you found, (the middle one) looks more like a "Tower for rifled musket" to me. It may be a plug based Enfield , but thats just my two cents worth.
