Finally Pulled The Trigger

Well folks, after a month of careful consideration, a whole slew of questions on these boards, and exhaustive reading, I was ready to buy my first detector after a ten year absence.

I walked into Kellyco ready to an Ace 250. I walked out with a Minelab X-Terra 305. Those guys are good.

When the sales rep found out I intended to do about half my hunting at the beach (wet and dry sand only, no surf for now), he steered me towards the Minelab. It does not have anywhere near the depth of a Sovereign or Excal (the 305 will probably get about 8"), but that's fine with me for now.

Wish me luck with it as I intend to test it at a park tomorrow.

Well, ran a brief test. Went to the local tot lot and stayed about thrity minutes. Came up only with seven clad pennies. Got a few false signals it seems, but it my have been my proximity to the playground equipment.

Hoping for better things on my next "real" hunt.

I think I'm in it for the long haul. Can't find nothing if ya ain't lookin'!
