I've been detecting my yard for a few weeks now and have found a lot of nice finds and a pile of wheat pennies. I think it's around 27 wheat pennies. I knew there had to be silver somewhere around. I went out today for a few minutes in between the rain and did a little digging in the mud. I recovered some nice targets today and a few of them I have no idea what they are. I think the Mickey Mouse looking thing is the back of an old lock and I have no clue what the the long brass thing is. I also found a few 410 shotgun shell headstamps and a 12 gauge headstamp, a .22 caliber bullet that was around 3 inches deep, a broken harmonica reed, not sure what the brass piece with the threads is but it says Craftsman on it, 1 junk ring, an old brass button, 1940 wheat penny and finally found my silver, a very nice 1945 Mercury dime.

Sweet!!

After 28 wheats the silver finally reveals itself, Awesome!!

Nice recovery on the Merc

this gives me hope. I've found about 15 wheats in my driveway but no silver yet.

Here's your silver dance, Dave!

Congrats on the Merc! Other nice finds too, keep at it! GL&HH.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Lots of neat stuff there! WTG!

Your avatar reminded me of how I used to tell my kids I would give them a nickle for every quarter they could stand on end! LOL

Hey nice merc!, persistence pays off

Thanks for all the kind comments. I went to the park after work today and pulled another Merc. The date is 1916.

That ratio of wheats to silver dimes I saw repeated at small park area in Baltimore. Surrounding homes date from 'turn-of-the'century' to the 1920's and I must have pulled 90 wheats from a quarter-square-block area and 3 silver dimes so far - a merc, a rosie and a barber. Haven't been back for months but will return in April to see what else comes up.
